‘That Dowdy’ by Mrs. George Sheldon, copyright 1886-1887

Excerpt from That Dowdy:

“..Father, this is too bad of you. Gertrude is not fit to be married yet. She is hardly more than a child, a very unattractive one at that -an overgrown lump of humanity, painfully awkward in every movement, covered with freckles, and a crazy shock of red hair.”

[...]

“Who is that handsome young fellow with that dowdy-looking girl?”

* * * * * * *

Why, it’s Prince Charrrles!
[..in disguise, no less.  Looking a tad dowdy, wouldn't you say?]

One of my favorite actors, Jon Voight, speaks truth to power!

Words to describe Jon Voight would be one who speaks truth to power. -oo-  Wow.  Isn’t that novel?  By that I mean, it’s such a rarity now as our Betters have managed to sour the way we look and feel towards people who we might disagree.  In Today’s political climate, we can’t even disagree with the men and women “across the aisle.”  It’s gotten soooo bad that we can’t oppose the mere thoughts of others.  We’ve become so dam politically correct to the point where we’ve thrown common sense overboard; make a disparaging remark about how this nation is quickly becoming one Americans no longer recognize, and we are “invited” to “walk the plank”, so to speak.   The administration is clearly controlling the press and that is very bad for this nation.   So, because of the encroaching censorship of opposing views, I offer these words from Jon Voight, one of America’s finest actors and a person of great intellectual ability.

Come home, Susan Boyle!!

“Boyle’s dowdy frock, frizzy hair and angel-like voice have earned her a rapid following.”  “In her first performance last month, judges who’d raised eyebrows at Boyle’s dowdy image..”  “The “Britain’s Got Talent” breakthrough star goes from dowdy to, um, a little less dowdy.” “Brit singer Susan Boyle—who’s gone from dowdy unknown to dowdy international sensation..”  “Susan Boyle – the dowdy Scottish woman..” “dowdy” “dowdy” “dowdy.” ENUFF ALL READY !!!

Memorial Day sentiments

arlington_cemetary

Ordinary men
act extraordinary,
fierce purpose prevails.

A band of brothers
fight to the death for each other
and the world-at-large.

War, like it or not,
determines one’s survival.
“Life” does not take sides.

Peace is an ideal;
easier said than done, right?
Honor our fallen.

Life is war with peace;
there is no Peace-permanent
’til heaven’s on Earth.

All Armed Services
remind me their loyalty:
one Band of Brothers.

Stark reality
sinks in – strangers died for me!
It’s Life’s greatest gift.

Nation under God,
One Purpose, One way of Life:
All Brother’s Keepers.

I bow to fallen
soldiers past, present, future:
Reverence unfolds.

Who will own me next year?

Today I got to thinking about who will own us in a little more than a year from now. Will we be beholden to the elite, the corporate gluttony, or the new whorled odor crowd? The only thing that’ll change if the elite win is more people will die. If corporate gluttony wins the only thing that will happen is more people will die. And finally, if the new whorled odor wins, two things will happen: More people will die and our betters *sniff* will still stink.

The only other thing left for me to do is quietly lie down on the floor and let my betters brand “mat” over my bare chest.

Or I can vote Ron Paul.

Flag-folding ceremony for veterans banned nation-wide -oo-

The following meanings have been ascribed to the 13 folds of American flags at veterans burial services.

  1. Symbol of life.
  2. Symbol of our belief in the eternal life.
  3. In honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks who gave a portion of life for the defense of our country to attain a peace throughout the world.
  4. Represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in time of peace as well as in times of war for His divine guidance.
  5. A tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.”
  6. Represents where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
  7. A tribute to our armed forces.
  8. A tribute to the one who entered in to the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor mother, for whom it flies on Mother’s Day.
  9. A tribute to womanhood.
  10. A tribute to father.
  11. In the eyes of a Hebrew citizen, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
  12. In the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost.
  13. When the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding us of our national motto, “In God We Trust.”

But all it took was one person complaining to a top banana banana_rasta.gif

to put a stop to this long-honored, meaningful ritual ceremony for our veterans. Oh, but no! top buffoon banana says – it wasn’t one person complaining that put the cabash on the ceremony. Oh, no! Mercy! It’s because they’re in the process of standardizing national veteran funerals. Oh, gawd, I can’t tell you how much better I feel knowing this. [Visions of communist uniformity pop into my head. My bad.]

Mercy, indeed!
